Traditional Whole Wheat Bread
Wonderful Whole Wheat Bread using Bronze Chief Whole Wheat Flour.
Ingredients
1 package active dry yeast
1/3 cup lukewarm water
1 tablespoon shortening, melted
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon salt
3 cups scalded milk
6 cups Bronze Chief whole wheat flour
Directions
Soften yeast in water. Combine melted shortening, honey, molasses, salt, and scalded milk. Let cool to a lukewarm temp. and combine with yeast mixture. Add enough flour as needed, until it can be handled without sticking to your hands. Shape into 2 loaves and place in greased loaf 4x8-inch tins. Let rise to not quite double in bulk (1-2 hours). Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 10 min.
Makes 2 loaves.
